Barrie and Ariel are getting married in May at Chileno Valley Ranch. We did an engagement shoot at their house and it turned out better than I had envisioned it. I have been friends with them for years, so knew how cool their home is, and how cool they are. But in this new context of me being their photographer and they being my “subjects”, I got to see such a sweet side of them as a couple. It is rare that two people take a few hours where the only thing they have to do is be in love -and then to be that lucky person behind the camera documenting what unfolds?! It is a good way to spend an afternoon…
Their home- they moved in a little over a year ago.
I love everything inside their house…
Rehearsing their first dance for the wedding:
This poem was on their shed door when they moved in…
Chickens! So cool.

christina mchenry - Her hand around his waist…Ah, along with the hens. I feel as if I have been to a romantic movie with only one fistful of popcorn. Too short but so telling. Thank you, darling girl.
cherry pie - Unbelievable Mary! These pictures are so stunning! I kinda want to be them and be friends with them…some ultimately I want to be friends with myself…?
kristen - what do i say? that i thought barrie was too cute for words? then i argued with myself that in fact ariel was? then i was back to barrie, then off on a tangent that it was *you* who was the best photographer–ever. all this beauty has left me exhausted, and in a shambles. next time, give us less to love. please.
Alana Couch - What gorgeous images Mary!
Lisa Richmond - Great work Mary- really beautiful!
