The Garcia -Berkeley Family Portraits

This was my second year doing a portrait session with the Garcias. We spent a little time hanging at the house and then went for a neighborhood walk through the rambling street of the Berkeley hills. The afternoon light was so pretty and their kids are such a great combination of goofy and sweet. Thank you for a great afternoon!

Little Family ~ Berkeley Botanical Gardens

I am writing this post from Maine, in a little coastal town where I was born. I come back here every summer to see my family, hang out with friends, and basically laze around as much as possible. Take a look at last summer to get the vibe.

BUT! My wonderful clients would like to see their photos. So while I have access to the internet for about 30 minutes, here is a teaser for Aaron, Sonya and little Sofia! This was my last shoot before I left town, and it was such a great send-off.

Here is a shot inspired by one taken in 1978 of Aaron and his parents. It was a cool idea to try and mimic the look and feel of an image that is clearly so dear to him:

I love these guys. I have been photographing this family for several years -from when Ben was in the belly and they were in the Bay Area visiting from Boston! Now when we see each other, we just hang out, chat, catch up on life, exchange kid stories and I have my camera with me. They are also as lovely on the inside as they are on the outside. (A most important phrase drilled into me by my mother.) Enjoy!

When I was in Miami for Christmas, I took my sister-in-law’s family pictures. There is a spot near the grandparents house that gets the prettiest light around 5:30pm. We went there on Christmas Eve and just wandered around, them being their beautiful selves with their new baby Kylie. I was kind of freaking out about the light and setting -it is such a treat to be in a new environment. It felt very “old Florida” to me.

Brody is a master collector- he just discovered the little coral rocks and started a new collection…

My last portrait session of 2010 ended on such a sweet note… We started at their beautiful loft in SOMA and then walked around the Ferry Building. This always proves to be my best flow -take photos hanging out at home and then heading out into fresh air. Thank you, you three, for such a happy afternoon.

Busy Days…

Hi all! Wow, these past few weeks have been packed! So much going on between shoots, lots of school photography, weddings, standard childhood illnesses to put a sudden stop to things, standard grownup illnesses to put a sudden stop to things, and of course the dog needs to be walked as well. This is always an interesting time of year for me -life moves at a pace that is much faster than my natural rhythm, but I’m happy to ride along with it, knowing things will come to a sudden halt in January. Also, I love what I do -which makes me such a lucky girl.

Here is a recent album cover -I’m going to be throwing up little tidbits as they happen over the next couple weeks. Hope you are all having a good fall yourselves, staying healthy and happy and creating nice moments of time with your family in between the rest of life.
